High School Training Program

PEAK HS Training Program

The PEAK High School Program exists to serve athletes as an off-season training and preparation for Track and Cross Country Season. The goal of the program is to provide athletes with a group of like minded individuals along with individual attention and direction. This environment fosters a culture of growth and has helped numerous athletes take the step from being a Junior Varsity athlete to being the Varsity athlete they dreamt of when they entered the program. As a program PEAK has helped produce 20+ collegiate runners that have gone on to represent D3, D2, and D1 athletes that have gone on to be All-Americans and stood on the podium as NCAA athletes. This outcome is not the sole focus of our program but is a testament to the coaching, program design, and dedication of the athletes that we prepare for racing at the local, national, and world level. At PEAK we believe that we can offer a training program that fits a brand new Freshman runner and guide them towards their dreams in 4 years.

Strength Training for Runners

When it comes to strength training, it’s been a staple in middle distance and sprinting long before Seb Coe made it famous in his training logs during his career in the 1970’s and 80’s. Since then, the world has learned so much about strength, power development, and how strength training can impact middle and long-distance runners. We’ve been training high school runners in the weight room since 2017 and the results back it up - a strong runner is harder to beat, more durable, and resilient. We’ve learned that athletes need 2 days a week of lifting to get the most benefit from strength training combined with agility, and tissue tolerance work. Tissue Tolerance - that’s a complicated way of saying - prepare the muscles, ligaments, and tendons for what they’ll endure under their HS Coaches training program :).

What we build in the off-season we try to maintain in season with a single day supplement during the week to help athletes maintain their strength alongside their competitive season

SUMMER XC PREP PROGRAM

The summer XC prep program is focused on helping athletes getting in the workouts and mileage they need to be successful for the fall cross country season. We focus on getting in as many soft surface runs as possible. Our summer program goes right up until the start of the formal CHSAA season. For some athletes our practices can overlap with an athletes HS pre-season. Our program integrates a mix of track, trail, hills, and road running to prepare athletes for the upcoming season.

During the summer months we meet in the morning to avoid the heat. This also allows athletes to get their workouts in before their summer jobs.

Races, clinics, and USATF/ AAU annual registrations are extra.

FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions
Are there attendance requirements?

While consistency is the fastest way to see improvement we do not have attendance requirements. We understand that your family might travel or you might have camps you participate in for certain weeks. We just welcome athletes whenever they are able to join us. We have a training plan

It feels like Peak is only for “fast” runners? How do I know I will fit in?

Peak is for everyone. It is not just for experienced runners but anyone who wants to explore the sport of running and what their body is capable of. We will meet you where you are at!

1:1 Running Mechanics Session
This is a private 1:1 session with Coach Simmons to focus on the individual needs of an athlete. This can be used to address the running form of all athletes and not just athletes participating in lacrosse, baseball, and soccer. Each session is a mixture of drills, video review, and skill setting. Breaking the body down into upper body and lower body we focus on reducing the prevalence of major problems in the first session, and use follow up sessions to course correct as the athlete progresses. Each athlete has different needs and it’s encouraged that athletes book 3 sessions so we can course correct, give homework, and build a strong, put-together athlete.

Individual Session: $150
3 Session Package: $400
