Season 2 - Track Season is here!
Season 2 of Jog Your Mind
I’m excited to bring this experiment back for season 2 and formalize some of the pieces that were ideas and things I was playing with. I wanted to share a moment with you that made me see this e-mail/ blog/ newsletter and “podcast” as more than just an experiment. This winter, I completed another experiment - we trialed our first round of a remote training group which was comprised of 14 athletes from around the United States. The goal of a remote group was to bring together athletes and share a similar training protocol and use a web-based forum and SnapChat to connect, share wins, ask questions, and put our pre-race plans into motion. This group had more than 50% set lifetime bests in the pre-season which is a testament to their hard work, focus, and taking a jump into a new mindset, a new framework, and most importantly - taking a deeper dive into their approach to racing, training, and self-management
This newsletter, podcast, and our remote programs all comes back to mental skills, intention, and shifting how athletes look at racing. One of the best mental specialists in the field Shannon Thompson describes mental preparation for racing and training around the idea that we must deal with reality, and uncertainty, and persist despite it. This season is focused on doubling down on finding solid ground amidst uncertainty, set backs, and trusting your gut. This is going to be our best season yet!
“Trying to be certain about something that is inherently uncertain creates tension - instead, approach this season with curiosity. Open and present emotions are performance enhancing.”

What’s on the menu this season?
If this is your first time here, Jog Your Mind is a free weekly newsletter that follows the High School Season. In Season 1, I produced 12 weekly episodes that dealt with what I was seeing with athletes as they worked through the arc of the season. We talked about goal setting, building a robust strength maintenance program, and digging into pre-race nerves. Season 2 will follow the spring track season and build on Season 1. Don’t worry if you missed out on Season 1 - you can find all of the prior episodes here and on Spotify. I am always looking to level up my game and this year I’m bringing in a few new tools that I’ve learned as part of my Altis Level 3: Coaching Mastery Mentorship. This mentorship is focused on developing skills around injury prevention, return to play, programming, and building out a performance focused framework for individual athlete achievement within large groups. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned so far and share it with all of you.
A few topics we’ll dive into:
New movements and patterns for your warm up
Ferritin, Iron, and bloodwork
Nutrition and fueling for performance and all-day meets
Race Strategy for 800, 1600, and 3200m races
8+ Downloads, and applicable insights throughout the season
Onward!
I’m looking forward to sharing all of this information with you. If you find this content helpful - please consider helping me reach new people by sharing this post or the e-mail. I look forward to helping you and your athlete make the 2024 Spring Track Season the best yet. Thanks for stopping by!
